To license and regulate professional engineers. To grant, suspend, and revoke licenses registrations; establish policies, standards, regulations, and procedures; develop, administer, and grade examinations and determine eligibility; conduct hearings. Members must file financial disclosure statements. Five members appointed by the Mayor, including at least one representative each of chemical, civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering. Members must be US citizens and shall have been engaged in the practice of engineering for 12 or more years, of which at least 5 years shall have been in responsible charge of important engineering work. At the time of appointment, members must have been actively engaged in the practice of engineering in DC for at least the 5 years preceding appointment.
