Mayor Bowser Announces Key Appointments

(Washington, DC) – Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced a series of transitions and appointments in her Administration.

Reverend Thomas Bowen – Director, African American Strategic Engagement

Rev. Thomas L. Bowen will lead enhanced and coordinated community outreach and engagement by serving as Director of the Mayor’s Office of Religious Affairs (MORA) and Director of the Mayor’s Office on African American Affairs (MOAAA). In this capacity, Rev. Bowen will serve as a liaison to the Commission on African American Affairs, Commission on Fathers, Men and Boys and the Mayor’s Interfaith Council. He will also oversee MORA’s efforts to engage the faith community to identify and resolve challenges and guide the MOAAA’s efforts to engage and expand the capacity of community organizations and advise on policies and programs impacting African American communities.

Eduardo Perdomo – Interim Director, Mayor’s Office on Latino Affairs (MOLA)

Eduardo Perdomo has over 13 years of experience in project management, working on community development and international development projects financially supported by the United Nations, Organization of American States, Spaniard Agency for International Development, and the U.S. Agency for International Development. He joined MOLA in 2016 as a grants monitor, where he developed policies and ensured compliance of over 50 grantees. He was later promoted to Director of Operations, a role in which he has helped develop strategies to better serve the Latino community and overseen the daily operations of the agency.

Solana Vander Nat – Director, Mayor’s Office on Nightlife and Culture

Solana Vander Nat has worked within the District’s nightlife community for the past eleven years, where she honed her skills in project management and event planning. She has experience engaging many stakeholders and providing logistical and operational support. At Sol Support, the consulting firm she founded and managed, Director Vander Nat produced hundreds of events and provided mentorship and coaching to industry staff. Recently, Director Vander Nat served as program manager of Hook Hall Helps, creating the infrastructure for a meal and supply kit program that distributed over 9,300 meals and supply kits to 3,100 hospitality workers and their families impacted by the pandemic.
